Oakland Township Crash Kills One

On Wednesday, around 10:30 p.m., an unlicensed 15-year-old boy was operating a Mercedes SUV northbound on Sheldon Road when he allegedly disregarded the stop sign at its intersection with Snell Road and crashed into a Ford Crown Victoria being driven westbound on Snell Road by a 59-year-old White Lake Township resident. The Crown Victoria caught fire trapping the driver inside. Emergency responders attempted to extinguish the flames but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the crash, the 15-year-old driver reportedly ran from the crash but his 14-year-old passenger remained at the scene. The driver was later found using a sheriff's police dog that tracked him to his home where he was arrested. The driver was then taken to Oakland County Children's Village pending charges.
