Drunken Driver Causes Injury To Family And Himself

An early morning crash at Gratiot and I-375 was witnessed by an off-duty Michigan State Police trooper. The trooper watched the intoxicated driver hit the median several times and otherwise drive erratically, abruptly exiting and entering the freeway, before he observed it crash into a pickup truck. The force of impact caused the at-fault driver's car to flip a couple of times before coming to a stop. The family, including a 3-year-old, was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. The injuries to the at-fault driver are reported to be critical.
