Mother, 3-Year-Old Killed When Semi Ran Stop Sign Identified

An Edmore woman and her 3-year-old son were killedwhen a semi driver missed a stop sign Tuesday morning in Day Township just east of McBride.

Sara Simon, 27, was driving east on McBride's Road just after 8:15 a.m. when a semi heading north on Neff Road drove through a stop sign and hit Simon's SUV on the passenger side, according to the Montcalm County Sheriff's Department.

Simon and her son, Aiden Keeler, died from their injuries in the accident. The semi driver, Pennsylvania resident John Troxell, 25, was taken to Sheridan Community Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the sheriff's department.

The sheriff's department continues to investigate the accident.
