A young man faces multiple criminal charges after causing an accident in Ypsilanti last week. Officers say that the he not only caused a collision, but was found to be in possession of a handgun. According to the police report, 24-year-old D.P. was driving early Sunday morning when he rear-ended another vehicle. He attempted to drive away from the scene of the car accident but was pulled over about a block away. After police administered several field sobriety tests, which he failed, they searched his vehicle. It was then that they discovered the .22-caliber handgun for which he did not have a permit.
Since the suspect's BAC was over .017, he was charged under Michigan's "Super Drunk" law.
