MSP Crackdown Results In Over 200 DUI Arrests

The end of the Labor Day weekend corresponded with the end of the Michigan State Police dui crackdown "Over the Limit. Under Arrest." From August 19th through September 5th law enforcement agencies stepped up patrols and ran a strong advertising campaign to get the word out about the consequences of a dui arrest. During that time, more than 11,300 traffic stops were conducted resulting in 230 arrests for drunk driving. Of those 230 arrests, 34 drivers were arrested under Michigan's "Super Drunk" law meaning the offenders had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .17 or higher. In addition to nabbing drunk drivers, police agencies issued 2,530 seat belt and child restraint citations, 74 drug-related arrests, issued 835 speeding citations and issued 2, 225 other miscellaneous traffic citations.

If you stopped during the MSP dui crackdown and were arrested for an alcohol or drug-related violation or even if you were issued a citation for a civil infraction, do not just plead guilty as charged. Contact a criminal defense attorney at Freedman & Freedman to find out what we can do to help.
