Prosecutor To Announce Charges In Pit Bull Attacks

The Free Press is reporting that Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has scheduled a news conference for 2:30 p.m. today to announce whether charges will be issued in three recent pit bull attacks.Two of the attacks occurred in Dearborn Heights and one occurred in Westland .All of the attacks involved different dogs.

In all three attacks, the victims suffered serious injuries.In the September 23 attack, P.J. Stevens, a 51-year-old woman, suffered punctures to the hand and thigh, a ripped ear, injuries to the back of her head and right arm as well as scrapes to her body when the dogs dragged her on the sidewalk.In another attack in Dearborn Heights on September 25th, a 10-year-old girl suffered 14 stitches in her arm while her rescuer, Gerald LaMonica, who kicked the dog to get it away from the girl, suffered 15 stitches in the leg.The Westland attack on a woman in August resulted in the police shooting and killing the dog.
